Officers list / Equipment inventory – All fire and EMS organizations please find attached a new officers list for 2011. Additionally, fire departments will find a CAD print out of the current inventory we show on file for your department. Either make corrections to this print out or complete a new inventory form if you find it easier to start from scratch. A new inventory form is attached. Please complete both forms at your earliest convenience and return to my attention. Thank you.

Personnel changes – Effective January 26th Bruce Kirkpatrick will be retiring after more than 34 years of service to Ulster County. Please wish him well in retirement. I have appointed Steve Peterson as the new Deputy Director of Emergency Communications / Emergency Management. Steve is a 25 year employee of the department and is known to most of you. Please also wish him well as he begins this new assignment.

Radio project – Thank you to everyone who completed the radio surveys. They have been sent to Blue Wing to compile the results. After the results are tabulated, representatives of Blue Wing will share the comments received and have an open exchange with representatives of the emergency services community at the following meetings:
Fire & EMS - Wednesday January 19, 7 PM, at SUNY Ulster (Stone Ridge Campus) Burroughs Bldg Room 120 *Please note we are awaiting approval of the request to use
this room; unless you hear differently, consider this to be the location.*

Law enforcement - February 2 at the Police Chiefs Association meeting, 10 AM at the UC Law Enforcement Center

Best wishes for a safe and Happy New Year

Re: News and Information

Heroes Among Us – the County Executive has formally launched the new awards and recognition program for all emergency services providers. This program will augment, not replace, existing recognition programs that each discipline already uses to spotlight extraordinary acts. Please don’t wait – submit nominees while their deeds are fresh in your mind. Nomination forms are available on the web at www.ulstercountyny.gov/emergencyservices/recognition.html
Additionally, a nomination form is attached which may be reproduced. A committee comprised of the Fire Coordinator, the EMS Coordinator and the President of the Police Chiefs Association will make selections next September.

Radio System Project – Blue Wing Associates is currently conducting an assessment of our existing radio system infrastructure. This includes tower sites, transmitters, and console equipment. A survey tool designed to capture your satisfaction with the existing system, and obtain input for a new system was mailed out on November 23; responses are due back by December 22, 2010. This is perhaps the single most important means of communicating what you think is good about the radio system, what needs to be replaced, and what features you would like to see in a new system. One response from each organization is requested.

From the staff of Ulster County Emergency Communications and Emergency Management,
BEST WISHES FOR A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON
