Recruitment and Retention

The emergency services of Ulster County are putting together a recruitment and retention program that will consist of countywide efforts and a hand-off for individual agencies to use. A committee consisting of Jim Bracco of the Ulster Hose Fire Department, Jim Coddington of New Paltz Rescue, Charlie Mutz the UC Fire Coordinator, Ritch Parrish the UC EMS Coordinator, Joe Sills of the UCVFA and Art Snyder of UC EC/EM are working on identifying best practices, a needs assessment, marketing strategy, and other components of a comprehensive program. We have reached out to other New York counties that already have successful recruitment and retention programs and are looking nationally to incorporate elements of those programs as well.
