Individual Assistance Approved by FEMA

FEMA has approved Ulster County's Individual Assistance application. By giving Ulster this disaster declaration, individuals, families and businesses may now apply for disaster relief. Residents / business owners may apply for FEMA relief by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), by registering on the web - www.fema.gov (look for the registration banner) or at a FEMA mobile registration site. The dates, times and locations of this mobile registration site will be announced shortly. Please remember that FEMA assistance is primarily through low interest loans.

If is important that anyone looking for assistance follow the process through to its conclusion. In the past some people have "dropped out" fearing they will not be eligible for a low interest loan. You must apply for the loan, and then if you are turned down, you may be eligible for a grant - you will not be eligible for a grant if you do not apply for the loan first.

Additionally, if you filled out an Ulster County damage assessment form and turned it in to your town officials, you MUST still register with FEMA. The local damage assessment was simply to gather enough data to get us to this point. Now the formal FEMA registration process begins.
