July Heat Wave

Due to oppressive heat and humidity over the next few days, it is recommended that people stay indoors in air conditioned spaces. If you do not live or work in air conditioning, please spend time at a mall, library or similar public area. Additionally, the Town of New Paltz will have their Community Center at 3 Veterans Drive open from 9 AM to 4 PM Tuesday July 6 and Wednesday July 7.

Heat and humidity will be with us through Thursday, a break is expected on Friday with showers and thunderstorms.

If you must work outdoors, please use sun block and protective clothing, drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity, be particularly conscious of those with existing respiratory conditions and the elderly / small children / pets.

Additionally, an air quality alert remains in effect, and the fire index is "high" (potential for fire danger).
